The culture, a globalized language

Globalization is not a new process of interaction. It has been practiced for thousands of years, when nomads felt the need to travel and interact with other tribes and cultures. That is why my question is: what was it that made culture start a globalization process?

First of all, people started to be interested in globalization driven by economic and politic reasons in order to improve their quality of life.

Globalization affects not only the economy, but it also extends itself through the culture. Not long ago, when communications were more difficult, the way of life and customs were so different from one place to another. Each society had its own way of dressing, preparing food, relating to other people and amusing. Nowadays, in our interconnected world, these local differences are making way of certain dominant cultural models that are spreading all over the world with cultural globalization. (Prestel, s.f.).

In other words, culture becomes global when some of its aspects such as customs, influences, principles, and practices are applied in other parts of the world.

Many countries accepted this new international challenge, but it has also brought some counterparts in other communities because of the culture shock. Not all cultures have the same acceptance level, which has opened a globalization debate: the globalists vs. the skeptics.

The skeptics' reactions have produced the resurgence of the local culture. It could be manifested some cases as a “return to roots” and in others, as militant and exclusionary fundamentalism. Consequently, the globalization of culture not only affects the world in a possitive way but also impacts it in a negative way.

Therefore, globalization is a general trend. It has also become a universal language without borders. Once accepted, it could be considered as the link among the diverse, trying to achieve an harmonic coexistence which could let the new generations inherit many opportunities.
