CPL COMMUNITY Looking for an accessible sport to get involved in? It’s no secret that playing sports is a great way to improve your fitness, meet new people and just have fun. We know it can be tricky sometimes to find a sport that works for you. This is where the Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association (SWDA) comes in to play. From basketball to boccia, SWDA offers a range of sports that could work for you. We spoke to Lochlan Thomas (pictured), who is the SWDA Program Officer for a new boccia team in Ipswich. Lochlan said boccia is a great way for people to get involved and make some friends. “I want other people with disabilities to know there is a sport out there they can play. Whether it’s for fun, exercise, or even your career, you should give it a go!” Lochlan said. Lochlan is on the lookout for new team members, and says all abilities and skill levels are welcome. Interested? Email Lochlan at [email protected]. If you’re not in Ipswich or if boccia isn’t your style, check out some other options at sportingwheelies.org.au, find SWDA on Facebook, or call 07 3253 3333.
