Live Large - Australia’s first-ever truly
accessible and inclusive event - was a smash
hit!
More than 17,000 people turned out to
South Bank’s Cultural Forecourt on 15
and 16 April to enjoy in a huge array of
entertainment, food and market stalls. It
may have looked like any other festival, but
Live Large was anything but.

With people with disability nine times less
likely to access their community, CPL staged
an event that broke down real and perceived
physical and social barriers.
Charging stations for assistive technology
and mobility, three times as many accessible
toilets as other events, equipment for
personal meal preparation, sensory play,
a liberty swing, Auslan interpreters, wider
ramps suitable for powerchairs... All of this
and more was available to event-goers
and proved invaluable, with 46 per cent of
attendees indicating they used at least one
accessibility feature.
