GRETA VAN FLEET IGNITES THE
REBIRTH AND RE-EMERGENCE
OF CLASSIC ROCK A WITH FIRST FULL
LENGTH RELEASE AND 2019 TOUR!
At first listen to GVF’s first two EP’s, I took the position of most hardcore, old school, salt of the earth rock and roll fans and said HOW DARE
THEY TREAD ON SUCH SACRED GROUND!.For years we have been clamoring for the return of true rock and roll to the airwaves and now it
is here, at our doorstep and I thought, HOW DARE I! I sat down with Jake Kiszka after he got off stage from the Austin City Limits show. His deep
knowledge and respect for his influences melted my skepticism into gratitude. They are as true to the music as they are true to themselves.
You Guys have done alot
of shows over the fast few
months. When did you guys
have time to sit down and
record the record?

Curtain Falls”
JAKE: That’s an interesting thing. You know we
have been consistently touring, and there was
pretty much very little time to pause and do that,
so a lot of the writing really consisted of writ-
ing on the road. We have a lot of these songs
that were previously written and recorded and
we decided to take at least 2 weeks off to go
and record more of these songs that we had.
We seemed to finish quite a bit of songs on the
album, so we continued touring after that. And
then we decided if we had 2 more weeks in the
studio you know we can finish this, and we did.
Was there any on the spot
writing done in the studio?
JAKE: Yeah! it’s interesting that a lot of the
songs were pre conceived and a lot of things
during the process of recording the album were
premeditated. Other things, not so much. That
was one thing that none of us really expected to

happen, but yeah there are quite a few songs that
were written during the recording process.
Working with a producer, how
much influence is in Greta
Van Fleets recordings and
how much do you guys rely
on that?
JAKE: It’s interesting, because the way that
we see the producer is like a translator. Some-
one with the ability to have an existential point
of view on certain things. Especially when your
in it, it was good to have another opinion from
someone we trusted as far as input. The produc-
ers input.. it’s very little I would say . If there’s
ever a question of “what do we here, we’ve got 3
options?” Then he’s good to have an opinion and
it’s always good to have someone standing there
saying play that better. That’s part of it as well.
