Texas

February’s area conventions revealed fierce JCL spirit as students engaged in academic, artistic, and Olympika competitions. Each area brought talented and dedicated certamen teams from many different high schools to battle it out for a spot in the certamen roster at the state convention. As Texas’ five area conventions come to a close, the TSJCL looks ahead to the state convention of thousands of classics students on April 22nd and 23rd at Atascocita High School in Humble, Texas. With additions like the new Globus Rex game and swimming competition, this year’s TSJCL convention promises to be one for the scrapbooks. This year’s theme: “sine amicitia, vitam esse nullam,” “without friendship, life is nothing.” The TSJCL encourages all its members to express their friendship and passion for Latin in many different ways—whether through spirit, testing, certamen, arts, or sports, TSJCLers plan to prove their deep love for the classics at the upcoming convention.
