CANDIDATE BIOGRAPHIES: TECH CO PAGE 17 Kyle Jain, Brookfield Academy What do you do outside of Latin and school? Outside of Latin and school, I do chess, soccer, and Greek. I play a lot of chess and I teach it to a group of elementary schoolers in my free time. I also love soccer, and it’s one of my favorite ways to pass the time. I self-study ancient Greek and love it because of the complexities and syntax of the language. In spite of all this studying, I somehow manage to have a social life. What position are you running for? Why did you choose to run for it? I’m running for tech coordinator. I chose this position because I enjoy paying attention to small details, which is very important for a tech co. I also want to use this position to help my fellow JCLers develop the same interest I have in the classics. Why are you the best candidate for your chosen position? I believe my previous experience and new ideas make me qualified to be Tech Coordinator. My strong work ethic helps me design websites, a task which many find tedious but which I enjoy. As BA Latin Club Secretary, I have handled all technology-related jobs, completely revamping the website and updating its pictures to showcase the club’s recent activities. I also added a constitution page, and I’m currently working on an academic resources page to help club members study. Moreover, I know the basics of coding HTML and CSS, and I will be able to put these skills to use. If elected, what changes would you implement? What would you keep the same? As Tech Coordinator, I would keep track of state convention tests and add them to the website to make preparation easier. I would also include an events page and edit the about us page so visitors can easily learn about what it means to be a WJCLer. Addition ally, I want to create an academic resources page with study materials for Certamen, Latin, and Ancient Greek. Finally, I want to make an officer fun facts page so that JCLers can get to know their board. I want to keep almost everything else the same. The current tech coordinator, Michael Ginn, has done an amazing job formatting and organizing the website. Which Greek or Roman god are you and why? If I were a Greek god, I would probably be Hephaestus because we share many similarities. For example, Hephaestus and I are both non-athletic (for different reasons). Hephaestus seems like a pretty chill guy and I like to think I’m also pretty chill. Stranger Things or Riverdale? Stranger Things because I love all movies related to Halloween, even though I’m often too scared to watch them. Anything else you’d like to share? An interesting fact about me is that I am a huge cat person. If you are a fellow cat person, we are already friends. I own two cats, Patch and Robert. I also like dogs, but nowhere near as much as I love cats.
