CANDIDATE BIOGRAPHIES : SECOND VP
Arushi Dhingra , Brookfield Academy
What do you do outside of Latin and school ?
Outside of Latin and school , I dance , play volleyball , and participate in mock trial . I also volunteer with multiple nonprofit organizations , including SEA Literacy , where I tutor Cambodian refugees in English ; the Radha Madhav Society , a Hindu religious group ; and the Service Club of Milwaukee . Finally , I love to have fun , hang out with my friends , and , of course , watch some Netflix in my free time .
What position are you running for ? Why did you choose to run for it ?
I am running to be your next WJCL Second Vice President . At my first state convention , I was thrilled when I discovered that schools could cheer , make up fun slogans , and earn points for their creativity . Once I found out that the Second VP organizes service in addition to spirit , I Instantly fell in love with the position . Service and being crazy loud are both a huge part of my life , so I chose to run for Second VP to fulfill these passions while also getting the chance to serve the WJCL .
Why are you the best candidate for your chosen position ?
I believe I am the best candidate for Second VP because of my love for spirit , service , and the JCL . Having volunteered all over the world and served as the BA Latin Club ’ s Second VP , I have the experience required to successfully organize spirit and service .
If elected , what changes would you implement ? What would you keep the same ?
If elected , I would make a few changes to help spirit and service run more smoothly . First , in January , I would hold a meeting with local Second VPs to clarify any questions they might have about spirit at state convention . Regarding service , I heard from previous Second VPs that our main problem has been participation , so I would institute ongoing service projects so that delegates unable to attend board meetings could still join in . For example , WJCLers could write letters to cancer patients or hold food drives at their schools , and we as a community could deliver the proceeds together . In terms of aspects I ’ d keep the same , I think Silma did an amazing job organizing spirit at nationals and running school spirit at state . Having helped make props at nationals , I know the work involved in winning spirit , and I would hope to maintain our winning streak !
What was your favorite album of 2017 ? The Shawn Mendes Illuminate album and Drake ’ s More Life were my favorites of 2017 . Stranger Things or Riverdale ? Riverdale hands down . # Bughead and # Varchie for life . Anything else you ’ d like to share ?
I am a super outgoing girl who loves Latin , and I would be so honored to be your next WJCL 2nd VP :)
