The main focus these past few months besides keeping up with regular duties has been recruiting candidates for national office. I created the officer videos that were posted to Instagram. I recommend those interested in running for national office to visit the NJCL Instagram to check them out. I highly encourage everyone qualified to reach out to me if they have any questions. LAYLA FISTOS

NJCL PARLIAMENTARIAN

LAYLA FISTOS

How is your term so far? What have you been doing in the past few months?

What's your favorite part about being parliamentarian?

I love being able to help shape the future of JCL by proposing NJCL Chapter Handbook, Constitution, and Bylaw amendments alongside my mentor. I get to give back to an organization that has done so much for me.

Is being a national officer what you expected?

I had done my research so I knew that it was going to be fun and that I would thoroughly enjoy the duties involved with being a national officer, but I could not have predicted the amazing friends I would get to call my fellow national officers.

What's your main goal as parliamentarian?

My main goal as a national parliamentarian is to uphold my duties to the best of my abilities, proposing successful amendments, recruiting candidates, uphold Robert’s Rules of Order, running elections smoothly, and more. Most importantly, I wish to be available for state officers, JCLers, and prospective candidates to ask me questions. I am always an email away!

I love working with the other officers, spending time going over Robert’s Rules of Order, drafting NJCL convention campaign guidelines, or recruiting candidates. It is hard to choose a favorite part. I love it all.
