TORCH: U.S.

note

Assembling this issue was yet another enriching experience for me throughout the past several months. Towards the beginning of January, I found myself overwhelmed by the amount of content I wanted to include in this issue. I became a little too ambitious! Although my audience will only know of what I did create, I couldn't help thinking back to everything I couldn't.

Initially, my goal for the Torch: U.S. was to depict the NJCL as one great, tight-knit organization tied by the students' common passion for the classics. However, through my experiences in office and interactions with JCLers around the country, this has changed. I now aim for this issue to embody the various colors among the individual states and students that make this organization so unique. Focusing on this new goal helped me choose the content of this issue and decide on what to keep and what to let go.

Thank you to everyone who submitted to this issue and helped me establish the balance between representations of unity and of diversity. Also, I would appreciate any type of feedback as I continue to experiment with new styles of content and layout. Please always feel free to message me through social media or email at [email protected]. After all, I cannot create something that represents such a large, diverse organization without knowing the individuals that make up the big picture.

I have enjoyed every moment of creating and compiling content for this issue, and I hope my efforts can make you feel the same way while reading it. Again, thank you for providing me with the opportunity to create this issue of Torch: U.S., and I hope you all enjoy it!

Ab imo pectore,
