Bylaw Amendments

This year, the position of Publications Chair of the NJCL Committee was open for election. Although Ms. Caitlin Johnston was eligible to seek a second term, she decided not to run because of her busy work schedule. NJCL wishes to thank Ms. Johnston for her six years of outstanding service, and we wish her all the very best in the future.

At NJCL convention in Troy, Kurt Ristroph of Louisiana was elected as Ms. Johnston’s successor as Publications Chair. Mr. Ristroph served previously as NJCL Editor.

He also served as NSCL Editor, Vice-President, and President. Mr. Ristroph is currently a doctoral student in chemical and biological engineering at Princeton University. His term as Publications Chair will be for four years.

Two proposed amendments to the NJCL Bylaws were approved at the NJCL Convention. The first amendment, to Article V, Section A, retitled the section to match the wordings of sections B through G. Section A refers to duties of the president, and sections B through G refer to the other offices’ duties. The second amendment affected Article V, sections A, B, and E. All instances of pronouns referring to the officer (‘he shall,’ ‘she shall,’ etc.) have been replaced by the title of the office.
