After winding my way up to Queensland, I finished my trip by
attending Beef Australia in Rockhampton for 5 days. Beef
Australia is a beef cattle expo held every three years in
Rockhampton, Queensland. It has grown to become the
Australian cattle industry’s national exhibition, attracting more
than 100,000 people from across Australia and around the
world. This event is one any beef cattle enthusiast must add to
their bucket list. There were over 5000 cattle present,
representing all major beef breeds across the world. I was
blown away by the tropical breeds; Bos Indicus and Bos Taurus
that are of course, “native” to Queensland and suited to the
hot, dry climate. I saw breeds of cattle at Beef Australia that I
have never seen before, and certainly got to experience a
whole new level of “beef”. I was impressed by the dominance

Wagyu cattle throughout Australia, as a high marbling meat
breed. Wagyu beef was strongly promoted at Beef Australia,
just as “Brahman brisket burgers” were a common lunch
option. The expo also holds seminars throughout the week,
you can opt to attend and listen to industry professionals
discuss relevant issues and topics. The trade stalls also provide
the opportunity to meet and engage with local and nationwide
businesses and companies, and learn about their products and
services.
