The attendance in the Monaco
Yacht Show of the 111-meter Tis
yacht was confi rmed before the
opening of the exhibition. The
95-meter Madsummer had al-
ready been added to the list, but
at the last moment it was decid-
ed that it would make its fi rst
appearance at the internation-
al boat show in Fort Lauderdale,
and so the time had come for
TIS to shine in all its glory.
The yacht was built entire-
ly by the British bureau Winch
Design. We were lucky enough to
be taken on a tour of Tis by Ju-
lia Dean, a designer who helped
create the interior. Just as we
were about to loudly express
our enthusiasm for the Louis
XIV and Louis XVIII inspired fur-
niture, Italian marble and 23.8
carat gold ceilings in the inte-
rior, Julia turned our attention
to the most precious things in
this yacht – the details. For ex-
ample, the silk carpets and the
railings of the central staircase,
which were inspired by the Par-
is archives.
The opulent spiral stair-
case and the elevator connecting
all fi ve decks of the yacht are in-
spired by the interior of the Pa-
risian Le Bristol hotel. One of the
guest cabins on the main deck is
an almost exact copy of a room
at the London Claridges Hotel.
The second cabin takes us back
to the yacht owner’s favorite ho-
tel in Paris – Le Bristol. The third
cabin is inspired by New York art
deco, the fourth by Tuscany, the
fi fth by Marrakesh, the sixth is
made in the style of a Russian
datcha with a hand carved head-
board and a sofa with a pattern
reminiscent of traditional em-
broidery. The Tis boasts other
features Russian will be familiar
with, such as a sauna with veniki
and an ice fountain.
The more we saw of the
yacht, the more we could see that
the Tis is a very personal project.
Surprisingly, the owners agreed
to show it to inquisitive report-
ers and brokers in Monaco. On
each deck, in each living space,
as in a long-lived house, there
is something dear to the owners.
For example, the spa area on the
bridge deck boasts a ceiling re-
sembling a Tuscany lemon grove
and a professional hair and
beauty salon. On the upper deck
there is a Parisian Ladurée-in-
spired tearoom, and the cinema
on the lower deck resembles the
heyday of Art Deco in America.
During the two-hour Tis
yacht tour, we learned that the
owner of the yacht plans to
spend most of the year on it,
both relaxing and working. We
were not surprised at all!
