staged at the Laurie

i n N e w Yo r k .
It was founded in 2001 by the
godmother of American bur-
lesque, singer Miss Bonnie Dunn,
who died at the beginning of
this year. According to the tes-
timonies of the artists, she not
only participated in every show,
led the creative process and at-
tended rehearsals, but was also
the heart and soul of the entire
team, including the bartenders
and waiters.
The name cabaret speaks
for itself; some of the perfor-
mances are quiet frankly very
risque – for example, a sword
swallowing belly dancer and
a trapeze gymnast perform-
ing a striptease. The entertain-
ment program is accompanied
by a performance by Le Scan-
dal’s own orchestra. In addi-
tion, a celebrity always takes
part in the program, including
winners of America’s Got Tal-
ent or MTV stars — it is for good
reason that NY Magazine has
called Le Scandal the jewel of
New York burlesque. The show is
updated every week and, in ad-
dition to dancing, it includes
performances by acrobats, ma-
gicians and comedians. It is ac-
companied by a dinner on a de-
posit basis — guests can order
any dishes and drinks from the
menu with a value of USD 20 or
over. VIP tickets include priority
seating and a special gift.
