The French manufacturer will
bring its flagship aircraft, in-
cluding the 8X, to the RUBAE
ex h ibit ion i n Moscow. But
this year, close attention will
no doubt be paid to the latest
French aircraft – the 6X busi-
ness jet, which took center
stage at EVACE 2019 in Gene-
va in May. But what has been
going on since May? Read on
to find out more and learn all
about the future plane.
So, first of all, the parent
company Dassault Av iation
completed a critical analy-
sis of the design of its new
Falcon 6X, and froze the de-
tailed design of the new ul-
tra-wide-body twin-engine jet.
The company also began pro-
duction of major components.
The assembly of the first air-
craft is scheduled to begin in
early 2020, and the Falcon 6X
will make its first flight in 2021,
with deliveries set to begin in
2022. “Work is in full swing at
the plant in Biarritz, where
the aft part of the 6X fuselage
is assembled,” the company
said. “This fall, the complet-
ed fuselage will be delivered
to Bordeaux-Merignac for fi-
nal assembly.”
Fuselage panels are pro-
duced at the Dassault facto-
ry in Argenteuil, France, and
wing panels at Seclin. At some
production sites, including the
final assembly in Merignac
and interior assembly in Lit-
tle Rock, Arkansas, “engineers
and production teams are cur-
rently working in an auxiliary
mode, waiting for to start work
at the subsequent production
and testing stages,” the com-
pany said.
And now the most import-
ant thing. Five test prototypes
of the Pratt & Whitney Cana-
da (P&WC) PW812D eng ine,
which will be installed on the
6X, have run more than 1,000
hours on a test bench in Mon-
treal. “The PW812D engine pro-
gram is continuing to reach its
milestones in accordance with
the original schedule,” said Er-
ic Trappier, Chairman and CEO
of Dassault Aviation.
Let’s take a virtual tour of
the new plane. As we above
mentioned, the Pratt & Whit-
ney Canada PW800 engines
were chosen for the new jet.
The Falcon 6X will have the
la rgest, qu ietest a nd most
comfortable passenger cabin
compared to any aircraft in
its class and the largest cabin
among Falcon business jets. It
will be equipped with indus-
try-leading digital flight and
cabin control systems.
The 6X is very much based
on the aerodynamics and per-
formance of the Falcon 5X,
which were confirmed during
the preliminary 5X test pro-
gram. But it is optimized for
the new engine, offering great-
er range and a longer cabin.
“ We wa nted to push the
boundaries even further with
this new aircraft so as to pro-
vide a better flight experience
using modern aviation know-
how,” says Eric Trappier. The
Falcon 6X offers a combina-
tion of range, comfort and fea-
