Fairfield Circuitry Meet Maude
It wasn’t long ago that Quebec’s Fairfield
Circuitry burst onto the scene and
delivered a handful of original circuits
in Spartan enclosures. Fairfield’s first
pedal was the Randy’s Revenge—a
ring modulator—and let this lay the
groundwork of the type of forward
thinking that Guillaume Fairfield is
capable of bringing to the boutique
table. It should come as no surprise,
then, that Fairfield’s foray into analog
delay is a doozy. The Meet Maude
contains an onboard compressor circuit
for exceptionally smooth repeats that
muddy up quickly just like a real analog
delay should. A Tone knob helps darken

up the repeats, or lighten them up as
the built-in compressor smooths out
any spikes. An integrated modulation
circuit is added to the mix by flicking
the associated switch. Because there are
no knobs to fiddle with, the modulation
switch adds a subtle tinge of the stuff
that helps you focus more on playing.
