Robert Keeley is one of the OGs of the boutique effects world . That ’ s saying a lot , considering how much that world has expanded in the past decade . And even with all of the excellent choices guitarists have when it comes to effects , Keeley remains a strong and relevant brand found on pedalboards the world over . With useful features , thoughtful design , and most importantly , excellent tone , Keeley continues to produce amazing musical tools that motivate and inspire guitarists of every shade . The Workstation Series is one of the more recent gifts the company has given us , so I thought it ’ d be fun to take a closer look at what it has to offer . Usually the word “ workstation ” sends a chill down my spine , but not this time . Rock ‘ n ’ roll , baby !
You love reverb . You love delay . And while there are many great individual units out there , organizing your board can get a little cumbersome when you have that many effects of the same type . But how do you get all the sounds you want if you don ’ t have a zillion different pedals ? Have no fear , Keeley is here . The Delay workstation features both delay and reverb that can be used independently and together . Featuring eight reverbs to go with as many delays , there are several creative combinations you can concoct . Whether you ’ re looking to make dreamy soundscapes with pitch delay and flanged reverb , or want a subtle slapback to add space to some chicken pickin ’, the Delay Workstation will deliver every tone you can imagine in spades . And yes , it has tap tempo . It also features stereo outputs , expression pedal capability , and a jack for an external tap tempo switch if you prefer using one of those instead of the included switch on the unit . For the reverb section , you can control the blend , decay , and pre-delay , while the Morph function controls different parameters for each reverb type . For the delay side , controls include Blend , Time , and Feedback , with the Morph function again allowing you to modulate each individual delay type in various ways . A great sounding , feature packed delay and reverb pedal for under $ 300 ? You got it . If you can ’ t find something you love on the Delay Workstation , then you probably don ’ t have a soul .
