GCB95F (Cry Baby Classic Wah): There’s no doubt about it—the GCB95F brings the Cry Baby into the 21st century. What makes that claim so? Is it that it neatly mixes old and new, or that it’s a faithful recreation of the original 1970 Cry Baby but with the added boon of true bypass circuitry? Check all of the above because this is the cat’s pajamas of Cry Baby pedals. The “F” in GCB95F stands for Fasel. While the original Italian-made Fasel inductors were all the rave back in the day, they disappeared for a while. Dunlop has brought the Fasel back in the GCB95F. At the time of this writing, Dunlop is putting the red Fasel inductor in all of the pedals in its standard line (but onenever knows when this is subject to change.) While the GCB95F doesn’t technically hold the monopoly on the Fasel inductor for the time being, it is still a really great pedal in its own right. 36 TONE TALK // Family Values: A Field Guide to the Cry Baby
