STEP 5:
Insert the vactrol. A vactrol is a photocell
and an LED combined together in an
epoxy case. Both sides will be noted
as to what leg corresponds to which
device. Note the red plus sign (+) on the
diagram. This is where the positive leg of
the LED will go, and place the remaining
three legs accordingly. If your vactrol has
three legs (mine did) make sure you use
the center leg and either of the other
two. You can cut the third one off.
STEP 6:
Insert the ICs into the sockets. In order
to keep from damaging the chips while
handling them, I clutch the enclosure lid
in one hand while I insert the chips.
STEP 7:
Now begins the arduous task of wiring
this thing. Cut and strip wires for all the
connections, and install the pots and
other wires.
