EMPRESS EFFECTS REVERB Canada’s illustrious Empress Effects also has a highly anticipated new reverb generator coming to market shortly, and it is also called, simply and appropriately, Reverb. In a box that measures a little under six inches wide, Empress has crammed 24 beautiful sounding algorithms that range from the classics, like halls, springs, rooms, and plates, to shimmering modulated tones, ambient swells, reverse ‘verbs, and other lovely, unclassifiable ambiences. There’s even a mode labeled “beer,” which Empress has designated for its more adventurous, specialized creations that, like its fermented namesake, you probably won’t indulge in every day, but might be inclined to go nuts with during the occasional weekend bender. As is typical of Empress pedals, the full spectrum of the Reverb’s functionality is incredible, with 35 presets, tap, expression, control voltage, and MIDI options, true or buffered bypass, and much more. It even offers a cabinet simulator for going direct and an output transformer for safe, quiet stereo operation with dual amplifiers. Once again, Empress has thought of everything.  ToneReport.com 15
