MXR REVERB
Perhaps the most titillating new reverb
on the market is the M300 Reverb from
MXR. We usually associate MXR with its
classic, compact, analog stompboxes
like the Phase 90 and the Carbon Copy,
so the last thing we would expect
from the company is an innovative
digital reverb box with tones that
can go head-to-head with the likes of
Strymon and Eventide. Nonetheless,
this is exactly what MXR has given us.
The Reverb is stunning, exceptionally
versatile, and comes conveniently
packaged in MXR’s classic Phase
14
TONE TALK //
90-sized housing. It has organic room
tones, adventurous modulated sounds
(including the ever popular shimmer
tones), delay-enhanced reverberations,
smooth plates, and even a very
convincing spring ‘verb setting that
our own Andy Martin counts among
the finest he has ever heard. It will go
fully wet, features stereo in and out
functionality, true bypass or trails, and
an expression pedal will let the user
blend settings on the fly. MXR’s Reverb
is a masterpiece, and is the new musthave reverb of 2016.
