MXR ISO-BRICK PROS: Diverse power outputs, small size, variable outs. CONS: Some players may take umbrage with the 18-volt wall wart power. 24 TONE TALK // MXR’s Iso-Brick is a sleek-looking, full-featured power box that delivers power unto a diverse range of power requirements in a compact package. Unlike many other power supplies, the Iso-Brick runs off an 18-volt external wall-wart, which seems unnatural. However, if you can get past the flimsy feel of a thin wire exiting the rear, the Iso-Brick is as good a choice as any, and may even exceed most others. The unit provides several nine-volt taps at varying currents, as well as two 18-volt taps and two variable taps for a total of 10 outputs. Players unable to reconcile the wall-wart power might elect to also attach a power strip to their boards, plug the Iso-Brick into that, and then use the power strip as the mains plug.
