r e p e e d Gain a g n i d n a t unders of your tone Building one’s own effects is one of the best ways to really begin to understand a guitar tone at a molecular level. Rather than just knowing that a certain pedal or fuzz circuit sounds good, one begins to understand why it sounds so good, and conversely, why some other similar effect might not. With experience, the DIY builder develops an understanding of how various components—and the way in which they are connected—can yield noticeable differences in sonic quality, feel, reliability, and other important aspects of a stompbox’s personality. This knowledge will improve one’s tone, allow one to build better effects of your own in the future, and provide one with the ability to discern the relative build quality of other pedals that players come across in their musical adventures.  ToneReport.com 15
