COCK FIGHT PLUS
At the other end of the price spectrum
is the EHX Cock Fight Plus, which sells
brand new for $123.50. EHX struck gold
with its predecessor, the original Cock
Fight cocked wah pedal. It is highly
functional, highly affordable, and it gets
those “Money for Nothing” tones all day
long. EHX has improved upon its formula
with the Cock Fight Plus by housing the
circuit in a traditional wah enclosure,
with the controls on the side. The on-
board fuzz is that same mean sounding,
Tone Bender-esque rip, and it can be
placed before or after the filter section
of the pedal, or bypassed completely,
via a handy toggle switch. Tone, Bias,
and Drive controls offer plenty of fuzzy
variations from fat and sizzly to full-
on sputtery, gated Velcro.
The wah circuit can be
toggled from Cry, which is a standard wah
tone, to Talk, which is a vocal formant
filter tone somewhat reminiscent of a talk
box. The Cock Fight Plus is an amazing
and super flexible effect (or perhaps I
should say “multi-effect”) that gracefully
and affordably ushers the fuzz-wah into
the modern era. You really ought to get
one.
