In the 21st century, there’s literally no
excuse for you to play your guitar out of
tune. Whether by pedal, clip-on, portable
tuner, rack tuner, desktop app, or mobile
app, there are literally dozens of ways for
you to keep your guitar in tune. Boss in
particular has a mobile app of it’s famous
TU-2 available completely for free, so
now you have the best tuner on the
market available in your pocket.
Not only that, it’s still possible to go
the old-fashioned route and learn how
to tune by ear. Granted not everyone
is blessed with perfect pitch, but every

amateur does get better eventually. If
you can learn how to recognize an E2
note when you hear it, you can use the
“fifth fret” trick to tune every subsequent
string after that.
“What if I don’t want to play in
