silently crying in Jack’s arms, is as
bittersweet an ending as you can get.
For such a loud and brash band, we’re
left with the things that don’t have
words to express.
The White Stripes were proud to have
played every province in Canada, and
made it a priority to play remote areas
during what turned out to be their final
tour in 2007. The setlist for Under Great
White Northern Lights takes them all
the way from the Yukon to Nova Scotia,
and it’s a blast to hear the band’s trashy
blues punk bash its way into venues big
and small. Even more powerful though
are the in-between segments with Jack
and Meg, where you see hints of the
shyness and anxiety on her part that
would eventually end the group. The
