The PowerStage 170 is designed with guitar players in mind. It’s a transparent, yet musical platform for pedals. PowerStage delivers the natural sound and feel a great tube amp supplies. It’s clean and rich and provides the missing piece that steps up the sound quality of your rig in a big way. As a life-long musician, I’m obsessed with solving problems we all face by providing innovative solutions that inspire and make life better. It’s what I’ve done my whole career, whether it’s products like Pro Tools, Helix or more recently the PowerStage. I’m inspired to work on products that make creating, playing, recording and performing music easier, more fun and push boundaries we may not even realize we had. Before we created the Palladium Gain Stage pedal, getting tones from pedals always meant compromising on the sound and feel, because pedals don’t react like real amps. Once Palladium debuted, we needed to get to work on solving the problem of needing an amp for power and a clean channel. This led to PowerStage— Seymour Duncan’s first amp in over 20 years. PowerStage also solves the problem of having to lug your amp to and from the gig. Nobody likes carting around a heavy amp—and it’s virtually impossible on fly dates. If you went with something smaller, typically you compromise on power and sound quality. with PowerStage, we created something that sits directly on your pedal board, weighs only two pounds has all the power, tone and feel you need. Now that entire issue is moot. For me, PowerStage solved some of the biggest issues I’ve faced as a musician who spent over a decade on the road. It has also inspired my playing with better tone and better results—both live and in the studio. I hope it does the same for other guitar players everywhere. — Max Gutnik ToneReport.com 31
