The Mosaic quickly earned a place on my electric board for being the best 12-string simulator produced yet . The built-in compression and EQ help to mask or re-voice the upper octaves on the high-strings and make them sound closer to the shimmery unison tones they should be . When paired with a good compressor , it takes a careful listener to hear the Mosaic as anything other than a real 12-string . I was nervous about pairing the Mosaic with an acoustic , especially using an undersaddle piezo pickup . I was expecting the already harsh and brittle tones of the piezo to wreak havoc with the Mosaic , and I was wrong to doubt it . What I found is that by using my acoustic ’ s onboard EQ to dial out some of the low frequencies , I can create an almost perfect 12-string acoustic tone .
