Electro-Harmonix Canyon Delay & Looper As I mentioned previously, I’m mainly an electric player and many of my songs require delay and synth pad type sounds. For my electric pedalboard, I’ve spent hours (maybe weeks or years?) assembling a selection of delay, reverb, modulation, and EHX 9-series pedals to craft my tone. Since my reason for gigging acoustically is to bring less gear, it was essential that I build a smaller board and focus on multi-tasking effects. As Alton Brown would say, “I don’t have space for uni- taskers!” Luckily, Electro-Harmonix released the Canyon Delay and it has a few built-in features and patches that are perfect for my needs. Can it replace the Kilobyte, Belle Epoch, and Mel9 trifecta on my big board? No. Can it fill in for them in a pinch? You betcha! The Canyon would have a place on my acoustic pedalboard if it only did the Shimmer setting. The way it pairs subtle repeats with the slow rise octave is perfect for my needs. Partner that with intuitive tap tempo and a fantastic Deluxe Memory Man setting and I’m a happy boy. ToneReport.com 39
