Perhaps the least hidden “hidden feature”
on the list, the ubiquitous Whammy
features a hell of a chorus effect as a
byproduct of its pitch shifting, and all you
have to do to get it is cycle down to the
bottom of the menu. Lost amongst the
Whammy’s voluminous interval selection
is the humble Detune, one of the pedal
world’s best-kept secrets.
Though it’s not much of a secret since
DigiTech released the Luxe—which is the
Whammy’s Detune mode in a compact
format—many players seeking Tom
Morello tones are pleased to discover
the beautifully rich Detune mode as a
secondary function. Count this author
among the accidental Detune acolytes
when messing around with an old Whammy
II years and years ago.
