made some quick modifications and now
have the added benefit of a noise gate
in my signal chain after my drive section,
even though you’d never know by looking
at a top-down view of my board.
I’ve seen similar practices employed
with things like buffers, tone sweeteners
such as boosts, EQs and compressors,
and even a drive pedal stashed down
below on a couple occasions. If there’s
something you never turn off—why not
relegate it to the nether regions of your
pedalboard?
Depending on the size and style of your
board (and the size of the pedal you
intend to stash), the process of actually
mounting it under your board could range
from fairly simple to somewhat involved.
I used a combination of Velcro, adhesive
mounting bases and zip ties to make sure
my noise gate stays in place, but I have
seen more highly fabricated solutions in
play.
My advice here is to go with your gut.
If you’re comfortable with how secure a
pedal is under your board, that’s probably
good enough.
This section is more of a catchall for a few
leftover items, but there are a few things
I haven’t covered yet that are worth
noting.
