Danelectro Doublenecks Over the decades, the Danelectro company has made a surprising number of double- neck guitars, from the standard six-and-12 arrangement, to guitar/baritone, and even guitar/bass combinations. The Danelectro Doubleneck model was original launched in the late fifties (vintage models go for a few thousand bucks, in case you were wondering), but the company has created some excellent and affordably priced reissues in various iterations since that time. For my money, the coolest double- neck ever is the guitar and short-scale bass version, but to my knowledge this one has not been reissued by the modern Danelectro company. It’s a combo very rarely seen, and the blend of that lovely Dano Masonite resonance and the bright, clanky lipstick pickups is tough to beat for deeply funky vintage twang tones. ToneReport.com 29
