quantify thing to your sound. It’s also
a performance tool, and the Deluxe
does all the live tricks that people used
the Echoplex for. Once I got to the
point where I really felt that the Deluxe
sounded like an EP-3, and since it was
a digital delay line we were using (and
not tape), it seemed like it would be
a crime not to leverage that unused
digital capability. As I was thinking
about what I wanted to do with that, I
looked across the room and saw my old
EHX Deluxe Memory Man. While the
EP-3 is widely considered the best tape
echo, the DMM is widely considered
one of the best analog delays of all
time, and I started thinking about the
modulation sounds on it—the chorus
and vibrato, which many player have
