Tone Report Weekly is the newest Pro Guitar Shop enterprise , and it too arose from Aaron Miller ’ s deep well of creativity and his desire to give back to the community that gave him so much . Aaron was a restless soul and compulsive innovator , and though his company ’ s glowing reputation was firmly established , he still yearned for fresh challenges and new horizons . He envisioned Tone Report as a gear-focused magazine , with informative feature articles and product reviews that would complement Andy ’ s videos , while also offering additional depth and alternate perspectives .
We are all pleased that Tone Report Weekly has become such a success , and that Aaron was able to watch it grow and exceed all expectations over the last few years . Much like the demo videos and the pedals he created , TRW was a great source of pride and satisfaction for Aaron , and he was delighted that he was again given an opportunity to create a useful resource for passionate gearheads like himself .
I spent over a decade working for Aaron Miller , and I learned a lot from him about the gear business , but more importantly about how to work with people , build an effective team , and have fun , all at the same time . Aaron ’ s management style draws parallels in my mind to artists like Bowie and Miles Davis , who achieved greatness in part by surrounding themselves with trustworthy , talented collaborators , and then giving them free reign to do their thing without interference . He encouraged his employees take ownership of their work , he projected nothing but complete trust and confidence in the people that worked for him .
That being said , Aaron didn ’ t suffer fools . He demanded excellence from himself and those around him , but once you gained his trust , he would turn you loose to follow your inspiration and do your job however you saw fit . At the same time , he continually pushed for new ideas and clever approaches , gently nudging people out of their comfort zones as necessary , and constantly driving innovation . In fact , it was this gentle nudging that finally resulted in Andy coming out from behind the camera and showing his face and peculiar fingerpicking technique to our already established audience , thus taking our videos and our business to new heights .
Aaron Miller gave me my dream job . Andy Martin and the rest of the family at Pro Guitar Shop and Tone Report Weekly feel much the same way , and for this we will be forever grateful to
