seam of aircraft aluminum counter-sunk into the body , between the glass and the neck . I took it on tour opening for Eric Johnson in 2004 and in 2005 when I played the Frankston International Guitar Festival in Australia .
TRW : How did you come to create a guitar for John Frusciante ?
NE : RHCP was in town and their guitar tech , John Lee , walked into a guitar shop called the Old Boise Guitar Company and the owner alerted him to my concept . They ordered a replacement Warmoth Classic neck to preserve the original neck in all its glory . I was in Ireland at the time on tour and remember talking with them both about getting the radius in the glass right .
TRW : How were your experiences opening for such notable players on tour ?
NE : I have had the honor of opening for some of the greats . Joe Satriani is the most consistently mind-blowing , artistically advanced touring guitarist on the planet . Eric Johnson is brave and accomplished enough to perform acoustic tours on guitar and piano — and making “ Cliffs of Dover ” fans have to wait . He liked the sound of my fretless resonator and was very nice on the tour . George Thorogood pulls the best blues fans around . And Joe Bonamassa has been able to transcend being just another blues prodigy while developing his own style and following — which is a very difficult to do . I don ’ t think he ’ d ever seen “ Killing Floor ” pulled off on a glass fingerboard fretless guitar , and I think it may have cut him a bit .
