Fairway And AWI Honor A Baraboo , Wisconsin Veteran
A Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation branch in Baraboo , Wisconsin collaborated with the American Warrior Initiative ( AWI ) to honor a local U . S . veteran with a service dog . Along with a donation , a residential housing “ Boot Camp ” was held to train real estate professionals and mortgage planners on how to handle with excellence the home purchase needs of active duty military members and veterans .
The event honoree was Vietnam veteran Doug Lewis , who did not realize until recently that he has been suffering from PTSD . To assist Lewis with his PTSD , Fairway and the AWI honored him with a service dog named Cody . Additionally , thanks to a wonderful donation by Fairway ’ s Baraboo branch , Cody is receiving a scholarship to finish his service dog education program with Custom Canines .
Loan coordinator Teddie Szydlowski played a large role in coordinating this event and was overwhelmed by its success ! She commented :
“ The AWI event was so heartwarming and meaningful . There is no possible way to summarize it into just one or two sentences . The impact it had on our realtors , our staff and our community will be talked about for years to come .”
Founded by Louise Thaxton and Sean Parnell , the American Warrior Initiative is a non-profit organization sponsored by Fairway Independent Mortgage . The AWI seeks to ease U . S . veterans ’ transition from military to civilian life .
