n order to enhance the student
experience and make our campus
even more pedestrian-friendly,
GMercyU has made great strides in
the campus improvement project that
began in January. As the first phase
of construction comes to an end, a
brand new loop road and pedestrian
walkway now connects Admissions
House and Alexandria Hall. In addition,
a new pedestrian walkway added along
Assumption Drive will reduce foot traffic
on the road and offer visitors a quick and
safe pathway to and from Admissions
House, Hobbit House, and the center of
campus.
The renovation project continues with a
section of Assumption Drive being closed
to vehicle traffic and transformed into a
grassy oasis for students, faculty, staff,
and visitors to enjoy while navigating
campus on foot. A rain garden set
between Assumption Hall and Connelly
Faculty Center will not only add beauty
to the area, but also help prevent flooding
by properly draining rainwater from
impervious surfaces (such as asphalt)
into nearby soil.
These exciting changes and
improvements will continue throughout
the year. We look forward to sharing the
results of the completed project with the
GMercyU community in the future.
