bankruptcy of Lumido. This was the end (or so I thought). In 2012 there were two men called Joshua
van de Vlag and Bernard ‘t Jong who went to Accres who was in charge of the park to come up with a
plan to restart Lumido. The project started in April and about 4 months later Lumido was reborn. Just
for a week or two, to see whether the proceeds are meeting the costs. And it did. In fact, it was such
a success that now (three years later) the preparations of Lumido 2014 are well underway.
What is Lumido known for?
Lumido is known for its light-, water- and music spectacle. But of course there is much more to see,
to do and to experience:
Watch a laser lightshow across the pond.
Take a boat ride in a gondola going about the pond.
Climbing the tower to extend your sight of Park Berg en Bos and Apeldoorn as a whole.
Strolling around the beautifully maintained beds of plants and flowers.
Walking inside the ultra violet tunnel (which makes all your white clothes turn purple).
Drink a soda at the restaurant while overlooking the park with its pond.
Taking a look at the fountains which changes colour every 5 seconds.’
Listening to the enchanting music playing all around you.
Looking around to see all the beautiful colours lighting the trees and plants in the gardens.
What did I think of it? / How did I experience it?
I loved to be there at the park
after so many years. I sort of
forgot about Lumido after a while
since it was closed. So when it
opened again, I immediately knew
I wanted to go there after all these
years. When I got there the first
time (so in 2012) all these
memories and repressed emotions
and feelings started to come back.
This happened to me this time
too. It was more elaborate than in 2013, so there was more to see and to do. Also, the park was just
renovated a few months before Lumido started. This made the experience overall quite a new one. I
took the gondola with my sister and circled about the pond. We strolled around the gardens and
talked about life and the past. I enjoyed reuniting with my old memories and drinking a soda in the
new restaurant. It was amazing.
What is the eye-opener?
The eye opener to me was not really the show spectacle itself, but more the memories I need to try
to keep. I have been going there from birth until I was 8 years old, when they closed Lumido. After
that I kind of just forgot about it, until they reopened it a few years ago. When I went in there I
remembered everything again and realised that I should treasure these memories and feelings my
entire life. And to me that is a form of art too!
