A Special Thank You

On Friday, June 13th, 2014, doctor and philanthropist Richard Rockefeller died in a tragic plane crash near West Chester County Airport in New York.

Mr. Rockefeller was instrumental in supporting the timebanking initiative beginning in the 1990s through generous donations of time and funds.

In 1997, he hosted a conference that gave new life to timebanking.

He dedicated much of his time to bringing timebanking to the state of Maine, and established the first statewide timebanking network.

Mr. Rockefeller was also a member of the TimeBanks board, and was responsible for finding and funding Kent Gordon, the specialist who developed Time Keeper, one of the early timebanking softwares.

TimeBanks USA would like to extend their condolences to the Rockefeller family, and ask that we all take a moment to remember his great work.

This article also appeared in our first summer newsletter.
