The old saying goes that a way to a man’s heart is
through his stomach, so it probably comes as no surprise
to anyone that the same holds true for tourists.
According to the latest research, a good
food and wine experience is key to
delivering a good tourism experience.
Recently I caught up with the head of Australia’s
Tourism and Transport Forum who said a lot
of overseas visitors return to Australia and rave
about it because they love the food and wine.
But he said we have to lift our game in promoting
our culinary achievements, because it’s not an
area Australia is generally well known for.
When we surveyed readers earlier in
the year, a large proportion asked us to
include food in Time to Roam and we’re
pleased to deliver on that in this issue.
