Time to Roam Magazine Issue 13 - February/March 2015 | Page 6

| upfront welcome Editor’s desk How do you top a year like that? 2014 broke all records for caravan and RV manufacturing in Australia and so far this year looks even more promising. A drop in the value of the Aussie dollar has further improved prospects for exporters and helped make life a little bit tougher for importers. The lower dollar is also great news for domestic tourism. Suddenly it’s a whole lot more attractive to holiday here at home rather than jet off overseas. It has been a very busy and exciting start to 2015 for the team here at Time to Roam. As we enter our third year of publishing, we decided to pull up stumps and move from Sydney to regional NSW. Our new home is Lismore in the beautiful Northern Rivers. The city has well and truly thrown out the welcome mat and to celebrate we decided to show off some of the best this region has to offer. Starting on page 44 you’ll find a special Lismore and Nimbin travel feature. Our Reno Rescue takes a look at a rare Australian-built VW Kombi Microbus we found roaming the hills of around Nimbin. At first glance you might be like me and wonder if it has really been restored at all. Our celebrity camper this month is former Socceroo Craig Foster and in our “My Top 5” feature, Paris Bosch meets one of the Lismore's environmental heroes. For the Motorhome Review we took a short drive down the road to neighbouring Ballina for another look at an incredible locally-built Horizon camper. This really is a company to watch. We hope you enjoy our feature in conjunction with Lismore and Nimbin Tourism and maybe it will inspire you to come visit in 2015. Feel free to pop by our new office and say hi when you do. Happy Roaming. Rod Bruem [email protected] Time to Roam Australia we
