GENERATIONS OF EXPERIENCE
Perkins Caravans
Les and Margaret Perkins started out
hiring caravans in the early 1970s and
then started selling the big brands of
the day: Glendale, Chesney, Millard and
Viscount. Back then Les says $6000
would buy a top of the range caravan.
Margaret says one of the busiest times at the
Lismore dealership was during the Aquarius
Festival in Nimbin. A lot of the “hippies” had
money and they didn’t want to be in tents.
“One lady came to us in a Kombi that
was real untidy. She had a corporate

Daddy in Sydney who paid for the van. She
chose a top of the range Chesney and off
she went to the festival,” Margaret said.
Perkins is now headed up by Craig Blackler
and Kevin Hancock, with Margaret and Les
proud the business they founded is still thriving
after 35 years. They regularly drop in to visit
Craig and the team, often with tea and scones.
Perkins takes pride in being a family
business and is a leading dealer for Coromal,
Windsor and Royal Flair. There’s also a great
range of quality second hand caravans.
Forget multiple tries at reversing your caravan
into a tricky space – then breaking your back
trying to get it exactly where you need it.
Camec now has an affordable remotecontrolled caravan mover range, all with soft
start technology to eliminate jerky movements.
The Elite is suitable for moving RVs up
to 1,500kg, on an 18 per cent gradient
-even heavier vehicles on level ground. A
second motor can be added to increase
the safe working load if required.

A World First from Pacific RV
The Fifth Wheeler
A fifth wheeler with a revolutionary slide down space above the
hitch is the latest Australian-designed breakthrough for RVs.
Pacific RV’s owner Garry Lee invented and patented this
unique feature that gives the fifth wheeler a complete flat floor
throughout and enough headroom for event the tallest person.
“Most fifth wheeler bedrooms are set up high over the hitch with steps
leading to a cramped space where it’s almost impossible to make the
bed. The last thing a grey nomad wants is a broken hip after falling down
steps in the middle of the night on the way to the toilet,” Garry said.
The fifth wheel RV caravan slide down simply lifts up into a locked
position when traveling to give the tow vehicle room to turn. When ready to
set up camp, the slide down lowers to give the RV a flat floor once again.
