loved Inga as much as she and her
late husband did and she left him
with many original furnishings and
fittings including their Kreisler radio.
Most importantly, she entrusted
him with the log books, photos
and slides of their many journeys.
As soon as Inga was completed
in 1959 the couple took to the roads
full time, traveling to all corners
of the continent. They went as far
as WA, Darwin and Cooktown
in Far North Queensland.
This snapshot of Australian life in
the 1960s seen through the eyes of
a couple of pioneering free camping
grey nomads makes Inga’s place
in history all the more special.
This Easter Alan is looking forward
to fulfilling a long-held dream to
re-trace the very first trip Arno and
Alma made with Inga to Tasmania,
following the pages of their first diary.
One day he hopes to one day
pass Inga on to another collector or
a museum who will equally treasure
this unique Australian beauty.
Alan has mapped
all of Inga’s
incredible journeys
on the side. He’s
planning to re-trace
her maiden voyage
this Easter in
Tasmania
As well as passing
on Inga’s history
to Alan Stevens,
Alma Bray also left
him many of the
motorhome’s original
furnishings including
a wall-mounted
barometer
