the drop down box and type in the new group name Fred’s
Birthday and then hit enter. You will now have a group entitled
Fred’s Birthday with pre-fixes 1 through 12. We find it is
very worthwhile to title all our images. It helps to recall the
context when you revisit them months or even years later.
It is easy to move the images across different folders
or directories. Just highlight the image(s) you want
to move, right click on the mouse button, select cut
then move to the new location and click paste.
We also find it important to download, sort and edit
images every couple of days. Any longer and the “senior
moments’”start to occur with increasing regularity. It pays
to spend a bit of time analysing your images, be fairly
ruthless in deleting poor quality images be they poorly
composed, out of focus, badly lit or have other glaring faults.
This system also makes it very easy to grab files that
you may want to put into a travel diary. Ours is kept on the
computer and backed up with a separate copy held on a
good quality stand-alone hard drive. We also regularly
back-up our images onto the same separate hard drive.
This means that in the event of an un-recoverable computer
crash we have not lost any of these precious memories.
We have kept a diary since we started travelling over
nine years ago. To flick back through these diaries with
all their many embedded images brings back memories
of each journey with absolute clarity. Perhaps it will also
