LVL is a stunning engineered wood product,
which allows for complex and iconic timber
structures to be imagined and safely built.
Universal Plywoods are agents for Ultralam LVL out of
Russia. We carry a range of sizes measuring from 11 900mm
to 1 250mm wide and stock thicknesses from 35mm to
100mm with the option of having your billet specially
ordered in 100% birch veneer with a strength rating of
17 500Mpa. Our current strength offering is Ultralam R
at 14 500Mpa for Nordic pine and Nordic spruce
veneer combinations.
CNC CUTTING AND LAMINATING SERVICES
Universal Plywoods is producing laminated, lightweight
plywood sandwich panels. We can laminate to large panel
sizes and customise your lamination requirements to suit
your needs. We now also apply High Pressure Laminates
(HPL) to various species of plywood as per
customer specifications.
With the appointment of a full time CNC-operations
manager, Universal Plywoods will supply you with the wood
material, directly from mill and programme your optimal
cutting specifications with your design, onto any of our
wood panels. From elaborate designs to detailed 3D

DELIGNIT BEECHWOOD TRAIN FLOOR PANELS
Delignit is a German producer of certified beechwood
plywood used for high-speed train floors. Very highly
specified and made for purpose, Delignit beechwood
acoustic plywood panels are the only panels used by the
Bombardier – Gauteng high-speed trains.
MARINE AND COMMERCIAL HARDWOOD PLYWOOD
The company also stocks Marine plywood BS1088 as well as
BB/CC Commercial hardwood plywood from Indonesia and
Malaysia. Panel thicknesses start from 4mm up to 25mm
and we also stock long grain and short grain bendy ply for
the shop fitting industries.
INVERNIZZI ITALIAN POPLAR PLYWOOD
Light in weight and blonde in colour, Invernizzi produces a
beautiful poplar plywood panel for the furniture industries
and veneer upgrading industries. The company stocks
12mm to 18mm thicknesses.
WISA BIRCH AND SPRUCE PLYWOODS
as Grada, the company is extremely focused and dedicated
to developing this unique product further.
Wisa plywood operates eight plywood mills in Finland,
one in Estonia and another in Russia. Birch plywood is
known for its incredible strength to weight ratio, stability
and good looks. Universal Plywoods carry overlaid plywood
panels such as Hexa Grip and Multifloor for trailer and
mezzanine floor applications, as well as Polypropylene-
coated panels in multiple colours for hygienically sterile
laboratory furniture applications and even high-end
kitchen manufacturing industries.
GRADA
Wisa Plywood in Finland has invented and patented a
thermosetting, bendable and formable, birch plywood
panel called Grada.
Used by chair component and office chair manufacturers
worldwide, as well as designers and furniture
manufacturers, Grada is safe, ecological, clean and
extremely efficient with a very low energy requirement.
A heated press heats the Grada panel to a core
temperature of 95°C and then the component or panel is
transferred to a cold forming press that forms your plywood
panel or your component.
Gone are the days of messy, labour-intensive practices of
gluing and laying up high formaldehyde emission content
glues. You will save time and money by not using pine
veneer that is both knotty and can have deep splits in the
veneers. Grada is a clean birch plywood panel of either
1 250mm x 2 500mm or 1 500mm x 3 000mm and comes in
thicknesses of 4.5mm, 7mm, 10mm and 13mm, which can
also be laminated together to be thicker.
Grada can also be ordered with a film of glue on the
surfaces for easy overlaying of HPL laminates or one could
even use a fine leather to laminate to the panel.
LITEWOOD
This is the lightest plywood and block board panel
available. Litewood has incredible properties such as a very
low ingress of water or moisture uptake and is very stable
as a wood species. Used extensively for leisure industry end
uses where weight is a factor. Litewood is used in the
caravan, RV and luxury yacht building industries as well as
exhibition stand builders who prefer using this light weight
material. Thicknesses start from 5.5mm up to 32mm.
