Novatop gives a modern and clean finish to rooms, and has been
certified in South Africa for two-storey building construction. IN-HOUSE VALUE ADD
In South Africa the Novatop system has been certified for
double-storey buildings by Agrément SA. As a value add UP has in-house facilities to extend its
customers’ experience of their purchase to complete their
projects or requirements.
The advantages of the system include:
• Sustainable construction solution
• Elimination of common mistakes significantly
improving quality
• Simplicity of execution and minimum assembly joints
• Speed of construction creates cost efficiency
• Airtightness is achieved at just 62mm
• Cross-sections reduce the penetration of moisture
• Thermal comfort inside the building
• Fire resistance
• Residential and commercial solutions
• Effective on steep terrain sites (with correct
foundation work)
“The Novatop building system is a quick and efficient
modular solution. When it comes to site the complete
panels arrive already cut to design specifications,
flat-packed in installation order. All you need is a mobile
crane and a team of four people to perform the
installation. A house shell can go up in as little as two to
three days, with the finishing taking the time as with
regular construction. This level of client experience is
unquestionable,” says Anderson.
“One major difference between the Novatop system
and conventional brick and mortar construction is that on
multi-storey buildings, you don’t have to wait for the
entire structure to be completed before finishing can
start – as the floors go up finishing can be done on the
floors below,” Anderson adds.
The Novatop system needs to be sealed off externally
through cladding, a façade which can include thermal
pine, larch, gypsum fibre, fibre cement, corrugated
sheeting, decking or even plastering with meshing base.
This again illustrates the versatility of the system which
can be partnered with conventional building techniques.
As a case study, the Brock Commons student residence
in Vancouver, Canada is a multi-storey building that
showcases the CLT building system.
Its fully fitted facility includes:
• Conceptualisation and design services
• Presses
• Specialised CNC machining
• Cutting and lamination tables
• General wood machining
Please note: the above services are only available in
Johannesburg.
