The Overlooked Importance

of the Real Wedding Gift

The happy couple has set their wedding announcement for the wedding date they agree on for their wedding day. They need to select a few stores for their wedding registry, such as a major department store. Technology has become more accessible for shopping online since they have computerized registries. Some stores event offer in-store assistance when selecting gifts for the bride and groom. Couples also have the option to travel to the department store and use an electronic scanner, which would always be fun to do. What would be more fun than to scan those items you want purchased for your wedding? Or perhaps, the bride and the groom would like a monetary gift. There are many options to select, but whatever the couple would like, it should be the right option for them. Options are truly endless for the wedding couple and we will break it down on what may work for them.

As previously stated, there are many great department store wedding registries, some of the popular ones include Bed Bath and Beyond, Target, JCPenney, Cirkel by Ikea, or Macys. There are mobile and online registries such as Giftser.com, Wishpot.com, Zola.com, and CheckedTwice.com. Our company likes the idea of having a charitable registry like I Do Foundation, in lieu of wedding gifts to support a meaningful cause or to honor a loved one. All of the wonderful information where couples opt to have a free wedding registry where couples can apply that information to a free wedding website such as Momentville or Wedding Wire.

Those are free wedding websites and that would be where your wedding gift registry link should be located, not on the wedding invitation. Proper wedding etiquette would be if you want to place wording on wedding registries, then on the bottom of the wedding invitation please allow enough space for a wedding website link at the bottom of the invitation. Please do not put on your wedding invitations where you are registered for gifts, its very inappropriate.

With all these great wedding gift options for wedding registries, what if one of the wedding guests you invited could not afford a wedding gift from your list on your wedding registry. We are firm believers here at WicksnCandlesticks that gifts are wonderful to receive, but really why do you really want your guests to attend your wedding in the first place? Think about it… Really. Do you really want all the gifts? Sure, your parents and new in-laws will probably purchase those gifts for the happy couple; however, a card would be just as appropriate as well. The main reason why a wedding should occur would be a celebration for family and friends to get together for this wonderful occasion. What you want your family and friends and even the bride and groom to experience would be to cherish all the beautiful moments of the wedding and wedding reception and create the most beautiful and special memories of your life and that is what should be of the utmost important to the bride and groom.
