Location, location, location

In the fall, the location may affect the date of your wedding. In the south, the weather is usually very pleasant during the months of October and November. However, if you are in a location where it often snows during this time of year you may choose to have the wedding in September. If you do live in one of these areas, it may be wise to plan a destination wedding in a warmer locale. It may cause a decrease in your guest list due to the additional travel, but in the end the bride and groom will appreciate the beauty and elegance of an autumn wedding.

Let nature be your decorator

If you are going to have a fall wedding, why not enjoy the beauty of the season changing firsthand? Try to reserve your wedding venue in a botanic garden or an orchard. Don’t spend lots of money on decorations to let people know you are getting married in the fall; allow nature to show it for you. Trees and shrubs are nature’s insulation, so choose a location with an area fully surrounded with plant life. If you insist on having an enclosed area, consider a barn or lodge. It still gives you that outdoor, fall feel with some shelter from the elements.

Small details make a big difference

Remember that the two most important things about a wedding for the bride and groom are to make it beautiful and enjoyable for them. There are certain little items to keep in mind that will go a long way in making an outdoor wedding more comfortable for the bride and groom. Suggest that the bride wear a shorter dress and train to prevent dirt from getting on the bottom of her dress. Give the bride a smaller veil that only covers part of her face to prevent wind from blowing her veil. Dress the groom and groomsmen in wool suits for additional insulation. Use lanterns and small torches as decorations. Not only will this provide an intimate look to the wedding, they also double as a heating source.

No matter how prepared you are for what to expect, you never can fully predict Mother Nature. Make sure to have a backup location or time, just in case the weather is not cooperating. It may cost you some additional money, but you will appreciate the security in having options. If Mother Nature does cooperate on your wedding day, the bride and groom will appreciate the pure elegance and beauty that the autumn season will provide.
