TIAB – Describe your designs.

Nina – Elegant…and chic. But especially elegant. Everything I create is a one-of-a-kind creation. When a client buys one of my pieces, they are buying the only one in the world. Of course, we will alter the piece to fit them perfectly.

TIAB – You participated in New York Couture Fashion Week where you introduced your 2015 Spring Collection. What was that like?

Nina – It is an amazing experience…like a grand party, you know? This past year was my fourth year to attend…2009, 2010, 2011, & 2014. It is the biggest event in New York. Only couture designers are invited, and these designers are from all over the world. This year I even won the Fashion Design Award, which was quite an honor for me.

TIAB – And you have your own fragrance now?

Nina – Yes, we introduced Ninon in 2013. My mother always called me Ninon growing up. Ninon is the French version of Nina, you see. The same people who developed Chanel No. 5 helped me develop Ninon. It was such a long process, and I had to smell so many different samples to find the one that best represented my philosophy of designing the best. Now it is an exclusive fragrance, just like my creations, that can only be ordered directly from me.

TIAB - You also teach design classes at your studio?

Nina – I wanted to give something back. I had people who helped me along the way, so I wanted to be of help to others as well. I teach everything about couture design, including the core elements of couture-quality design and construction. My classes are private and are one-on-one instruction so my students get the most out of my instruction.

TIAB – What is next for you?

Nina – I will have to wait and see. I have offers from the New York Couture Fashion Week as well as several couture fashion shows all over Europe. Right now I am staying busy and weighing my options. But my future will always involve fashion. It is my passion.
