A series of special events over the Tidelines weekend from award-winning bookbinder,
Tom McEwan, in his fully equipped Courtyard Studios bindery located next door to the
Harbour Arts Centre.
Bookbinding for Beginners
Saturday 28 September

A practical workshop on how to use basic bookbinding tools,
techniques and materials to create a range of simple but
attractive pamphlets and small books.
Half Leather Binding
Sunday 29 September
10:00am-12:00noon
Free but booking required
A detailed demonstration on how to hand-bind a traditional
book with leather spine, corners and marbled paper sides.

The WASPS Courtyard Artists Studios on Irvine’s Harbourside
is one of Ayrshire’s centres of excellence for the arts.
The Courtyard accommodates 16 artists, working in painting,
drawing, graphic design, photography, jewellery, design,
book-binding, music, fashion and ceramics. Set within this
beautiful Ayrshire coastal setting the artists produce original,
imaginative, high quality and contemporary art and design.
This year, for the first time, the Group Exhibition at the HAC
will incorporate work inspired by or linked thematically to
Tidelines Book Festival, making it an integral part of the festival.
