Focus on Painted Country
We have always enjoyed working
with interiors but until 11 years ago,
painting furniture was purely a hobby
– just for pleasure. Then in 2008, we
discovered Chalk Paint™ by Annie
Sloan! It was less than a month
later that we became Chalk Paint™
stockists and our story began. Seeking
out interesting pieces to paint for our
newly created shop and leaning on
newly acquired knowledge from Annie
Sloan herself (google her!) then taking
inspiration from books and magazines,
we created our ‘look’ – mostly Modern
Rustic with a ‘French twist’. We are
known as the 2Steves locally with one
of us creating most of the fi nishes ,
the other sourcing pieces to paint then
between us we try to come up with
exciting ideas for display & make the
shop look like a room to inspire. Chalk
Paint™ by Annie Sloan is an amazing
product that requires little or even
no preparation (NO sanding down!)
so you can get on with the job pretty
quickly. This is why it has become a
big hit with our customers. We also
take on regular commissions, with
customers asking us to ‘reinvent’ their
own furniture using our painting skills
and know-how. If you have a piece you
would like us to paint for you, please

one-to-one workshops to show you

Local students donate beautiful
artwork to West Suffolk Hospital
West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust
has been gifted a colourful new mural
from some creative students at King
Edward VI School, Bury St Edmunds.
The group decided to create the mural
for NHS staff and students to enjoy
at the Drummond Education Centre,
based at the West Suffolk Hospital, as
part of a Sixth Form art project. Marcus
Powling, development offi cer at WSFT,
said: “We’re really thrilled with the
artwork, and it has really brightened
up the courtyard for our staff and
visitors to use as a breakout space
after studying. The students have been
dedicated and positive throughout,
and it has been a pleasure working
with them and seeing their creation
come to life. I’d like to thank them and
their teachers for their generosity, and
wish them the best of luck in their
future exams.”
